Students, Faculty and Staff,

As we approach the end of spring break and make preparations to return to campus, keep in mind that students’ presence on campus is voluntary. Review the statements below to determine whether or not you should return to campus during online instruction.

The Randall University Administration Team strongly discourages students/employees to return to campus who have been exposed to:

1. A person who has COVID-19
2. A person who has been in contact with someone with the virus

Helpful Questions for Self-Assessment

Please also consider the following questions before deciding if it is in your best interest (and the best interest of others) to return to campus:

In the last 14 days, have you exhibited any of the following symptoms?

• Coughing
• Fever over 100°
• Tiredness
• Difficulty breathing

Have you left the continental U.S. in the last 14 days? If so, consider the questions below:

• Where did you go?
• How long were you there?
• What mode of transportation did you take to get there?

According to the map found here, how many confirmed cases are in the state/s you have visited in the last 14 days?

Academics

Online Delivery of Face-to-Face Courses

As stated in our March 17, 2020 announcement, face-to-face courses will resume online in Populi, our Learning Management System, on Thursday, March 26. Online delivery will continue through the end of the spring semester, May 8, 2020 (with finals occurring May 4–8), as originally planned. Thus, no additional days will be added to the semester. Students who need to meet with faculty regarding concerns about their current Spring 2020 classes are to do so online.

Please continue to monitor your RU email, Populi, and campus alert messaging for important university updates related to continuing and completing Spring 2020 classes. In the event that Populi or specific technology training/instruction for faculty and/or students is needed, postings will be made in Populi.

Instructor Course Communication to Students

To ensure we are doing all we can to keep our students informed during this challenging time, each faculty member has been asked to communicate with students in each of their classes through the course dashboard feature and email. Your instructor will clearly communicate expectations for each course. Please check Populi and email for this communication and guidance.

Commencement

We will postpone our May 9, 2020 Commencement Ceremony but will work to establish an alternate date, with plenty of advance notice, to allow graduates and their families to connect and celebrate this significant milestone. Once again, we regret the need to delay this event, but we look forward with great expectation to honoring our graduates and families in this most unusual season.

Enrollment & Advisement for Summer and Fall Courses for Traditional Undergraduate Students

Advisors will begin contacting students the week of March 30, 2020 to begin enrollment for the Summer and Fall 2020 terms. These advising conversations will be held by phone or by virtual conferencing.

Learning Resource Center

The Learning Resource Center (LRC) will be open to students, faculty, and staff from 10am-2pm, Monday-Friday. LRC access includes computer terminal access, wifi, and printing access for all students to complete course work. Please note social distancing will be in effect in the LRC and students are required to disinfect terminals after each use. Please refer to the library website at rulrc.ru.edu for updates. Alternatively, you can access the RU LRC services through the “Library” tab in your Populi account.
 

Specific Courses:

Internship & Practicum Courses: As RU is committed to experiential education, many seniors may be in an internship or practicum course. If this is the case, please confer with your instructor regarding internship hours and other course-related questions.

Supplemental Academic Instruction (for select students): If you are currently enrolled in a SAI or co-requisite course, then this course will meet online, as outlined in the "Online Delivery of Face-to-Face Courses” section above.

Student Services

Housing

All dorm students need to inform the assigned RA of the date they plan to return to dorms to live during online instruction or move out of the dorms.

Students should contact Ms. Jody Blackwell (jblackwell@ru.edu) with the answers to these two questions:

1. Do you plan to live in the dorms Fall 2020?
2. If you plan to live in the dorms, do you have a roommate request?

If a student decides to move out of the dorms, the checklist below needs to be completed:

• Remove all personal items
• Empty all drawers
• Clean windows
• Clean out desk
• Dust fans
• Clean out closet
• Sweep and mop/vacuum floor
• Take out all trash
• Clean mirrors
• Clean walls
• Complete assigned floor cleaning duty
• Return key (if not returning next semester)
• Return ALL ID badges (this includes any IDs that are broken or do not work)

Failure to complete the above tasks could result in the forfeiture of the student’s deposit.

Food Service

Due to the limited number of students we have on campus, meal service has been further modified.

How to Get a Meal on Campus:

If you plan to eat a meal in the cafeteria, you must go to this page to order order your meal in advance. This must be completed the day before the meal is needed.

All meals served will be carryout. Absolutely no sitting down dining in the cafeteria. This will be strictly enforced. This will ensure that everyone can get good meals and yet do the things we need to do to safeguard ourselves from the spread of the COVID-19.

• Breakfast
  March 23–27, 8-8:30am in the Cafeteria. Beginning March 28, self-serve breakfast will be available in Yandell Lobby.
• Lunch
  12-12:30pm in the Cafeteria
• Dinner
  Pre-made dinner boxes will be ready for pickup at 3:30pm in the Cafeteria

Tutoring

Mrs. Krueger will continue to coordinate tutoring services. Tutoring will be available on campus by appointment, as well as through zoom by faculty members and student tutors. Please contact Mrs. Krueger to schedule tutoring appointments at ckrueger@ru.edu.

Accommodation Services

If you are an current accommodation plan, it is your responsibility to ensure accommodations are transitioned from face-to-face to online instruction. Please contact Mrs. Krueger (ckrueger@ru.edu) and/or your instructor to continue to receive these services. As always, if you are in need of accommodations, please contact Mrs. Krueger to discuss required documentation.

Student Athletes

The National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) has suspended all Spring semester sports. If you have questions specific to your RU sports team, please get in contact with your coach.

Special note for our RU student athletes: Be sure to finish your spring term strong and be mindful of GPA and eligibility requirements.

Spiritual Life

Chapel & Spiritual Formation

Given the White House recommendations that no more than ten (10) individuals should convene at one event, RU Chapel is suspended for the Spring 2020 Term. In addition, if you have completed your service project and reflection, you will receive full credit. If you have not yet completed these activities, you will not be penalized.

The RU Administrative Team is committed to student, faculty, and staff spiritual formation. Thus, we will periodically provide devotions and worship music to our community via Populi or your ru.edu email.

Saints Serving (Christian Ministry Scholarship Recipients)

Given that churches are not regularly meeting due to COVID-19, we recognize the difficulty of students serving in the local church and/or nonprofits. Please refer to your course bulletin board for communication from Lauren Childers (lchilders@ru.edu) regarding Saints Serving course requirements.

New Student Enrollment

Currently, our Recruitment Department is still offering campus tours on a voluntary basis, however all group tours and larger gatherings such as Campus Days have been canceled at this time. In order to keep our visitors safe, we will be practicing social distancing and will adapt our tours to fit into all CDC guidelines.

At this time, we are moving forward with the hope of being back on campus this coming Fall. In the next few days we will be releasing a tentative course schedule for our upcoming semester and will continue our enrollment process like normal. It is crucial that incoming students continue to submit their required documents for admission.

Faculty & Staff

Effective Tuesday, March 24, 2020, new operating hours for the Moore Campus are 9:00am to 3:30pm.

Staff members need to contact their immediate supervisors regarding work requirements. Full-time faculty members are allowed to work remotely from home.
