Dr. Brent Sykes, Academic Dean, is pleased to announce the hiring and appointment of Dr. Brandon Trueblood as Director of the Psychology Program effective for the Fall 2023 semester.

Dr. Brandon Trueblood, D.Min, has taught as an adjunct professor in the psychology program over the past academic year. He has greatly enjoyed getting to know the students and staff. Brandon has spent the last eight years running his private practice, Trueblood Christian Counseling, as a clinical pastoral/biblical counselor. His practice focuses on helping Christians through individual, couples, marriage, pre-marital, and family counseling using the sufficient Word of God in practical ways. Said Dr. Sykes, Academic Dean, “Dr. Trueblood brings a sharp clinical mind to the psychology program. Over the past year, I have witnessed his heart for ministry and teaching. His clinical and pastoral care experiences will add practicality and challenge students to conceptualize psychological problems within a Biblical framework.

Being both an ordained minister and counselor, he hopes to integrate his ministry experiences and professional education in helping the psychology program grow as a light for Christ that reveres the Word of God as the final authority on how Christians should live and in offering practical truths to utilize in the support of one another within the field of psychology and counseling. “Dr. Trueblood’s skillset affords Randall University to be intentional in providing opportunities and interactions to better equip Free Will Baptist pastors in pastoral care,” noted Dr. Sykes.

Dr. Trueblood has been married to his amazing wife, Summer, for 13 years and they have two beautiful children, Saige and Theo. Brandon first met his wife in China, where she is originally from, while he was working as a foreign missionary and attending university. The Trueblood family are members of South Lakes Baptist church in Oklahoma City.

Dr. Trueblood holds an Associates of Biblical Studies from Moody Bible Institute, a Bachelors of Christian Counseling from the International Institute of Christian Counseling, Masters of Clinical Christian Counseling from Cornerstone University, Masters of Science in Marriage, Couples, and Family Therapy from Mid-America Christian University, and a Doctorate of Ministry in Christian Counseling from Jacksonville Theological Seminary. He is also advanced certified in integrated marriage and family counseling, sexual therapy, and temperament therapy. He has additional certifications in grief counseling, crisis counseling, and addiction counseling. Brandon is a presidential member of the American Association of Christian Counselors, clinical member of the National Christian Counselors Association, and professional member of the Sarasota Academy of Christian Counseling.
