Jesse Byrd takes Head Men’s Basketball Coach position at Randall after 5 years at Champion Christian College in Hot Springs, AR.

Byrd is an alumnus of Champion Christian College, graduating in 2013 with a Bachelors of Youth Ministry. He was a 4-year player for the Tigers and a member of the 2010 National Championship team.

Byrd started his coaching career in 2016 as an assistant coach. He then began serving as an interim head coach for the 2017-18 year, and much of the 2018-19 season as well. Byrd led the Tigers to a National Runner-Up finish and the first winning record in the school’s history. In 2019, he returned to the head assistant role where he helped bring the Tigers to a 19-9 season record and an NCCAA DII Southwest Region regular-season championship. In 2020-21, he helped lead the Tigers to the 2nd highest ranked defense in the Nation, holding teams to 70 points per game. Byrd also served as the assistant athletic director as well as the men's assistant and sports information director.

Byrd is currently pursuing a Master of Organizational Leadership from York College of Nebraska.

He recently married his wife, Janna, in June of 2020.
