Dr. John R. Jones Hired as the Dean of Online and Graduate Studies


Dr. Brent Sykes, Vice President of Academic Affairs, is pleased to announce that Dr. John R. Jones has been employed as the Dean of Online and Graduate Studies at Randall University effective immediately. Said Dr. Sykes, “Dr. Jones’s academic leadership is very extensive and aligns with our institutional strategy of growing online programs, especially graduate programs. I look forward to working with him to expand our mission into new programs and fields.”

Before this appointment, he served as professor and director of the Master of Arts in Teaching at Southern Nazarene University. He has also served for many years as the coordinator of the educational leadership programs (master’s and doctorate) at the University of Oklahoma. In addition, John has served for 10 years as a vice president for student affairs, four years as a graduate dean, and eight years as a dean of a college of education. Prior to his experience in higher education, Dr. Jones served for 16 years as a public school teacher and high school principal. In 1987, he transitioned into higher education.

His leadership and teaching experiences have afforded him the expertise needed to publish numerous articles on various aspects relating to instructional leadership, supervision and evaluation of teaching, student perceptions of teacher quality, teachers perceptions of principals as instructional leaders, and a book titled Redefining Instructional Leadership: The Skills and Energy Required of an Instructional Leader. He and his wife have been active members at Southern Hills Baptist Church in Oklahoma City, OK for over 10 years where John faithfully teaches Bible study classes.
