Randall University Welcomes Dr. Amanda Reed as New Professor of Exercise Science

Moore, OK — Randall University is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Amanda Reed as the new Professor of Exercise Science within the School of Arts and Sciences. Dr. Reed brings with her more than two decades of experience in higher education, curriculum development, student advising, and community-based health initiatives.
Dr. Reed holds a Ph.D. in Health, Leisure, and Human Performance from Oklahoma State University, a Master of Education in Kinesiology and Health Studies from the University of Central Oklahoma, and a Bachelor of Science in Health, Physical Education, and Recreation from East Central University.
“Dr. Reed’s professional background, leadership in program development, and passion for health and wellness education make her a perfect fit for Randall University,” said Dr. Jay McCurry, Provost and Chief Academic Officer. “Her commitment to excellence in teaching, her ongoing research in substance abuse and wellness, and her engagement with community stakeholders will greatly enrich our Exercise Science program and positively impact our students.”
Prior to joining Randall University, Dr. Reed served as Assistant Professor and Department Chair at East Central University and St. Gregory’s University, where she was actively involved in teaching, advising, accreditation processes, and grant development. Her expertise includes a wide array of courses such as Sports Nutrition, Health Promotion, Exercise Physiology, and Legal Issues in Sport.
Dr. Reed is a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) and an active member of professional organizations such as the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and the Society of Health and Physical Educators (SHAPE America). She is also a published author, having written a textbook on Health Promotion.
In addition to her academic pursuits, Dr. Reed has demonstrated a strong commitment to public service through work with the Oklahoma Department of Human Services, Global Consulting International, and as a CPR/First Aid Instructor with the American Heart Association. Her professional interests include substance abuse prevention, mindfulness in health decision-making, and addressing the obesity epidemic through education and intervention.
