About Dr John R.
Biographical Information:
Before he came to Randall University, he served as Professor and Director of the Master of Arts
in Teaching Degree at Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, Oklahoma. He has also served
for many years as a professor and coordinator of the educational leadership programs (master’s
and doctorate) at the University of Oklahoma.
Dr. Jones has over 50 years of experience in the educational profession. Before his experience in
higher education, Dr. Jones served for 16 years as a public- school teacher and high school
principal. In 1987 He transitioned into higher education, and his leadership experience is very
extensive, as he has served for 10 years as a vice president for student affairs, four years as a
graduate dean, and eight years as a dean of a college of education. He has also served as a
leadership consultant for both business and industry.
Research Interests:
His leadership and teaching experiences have afforded him the expertise needed to publish
numerous articles on various aspects relating to instructional leadership, supervision and
evaluation of teaching, students' perceptions of teacher quality, teachers perceptions of principals
as instructional leaders, and one book titled Redefining Instructional Leadership: The Skills and
Energy Required of an Instructional Leader. He and his wife have been active members at
Southern Hills Baptist Church in Oklahoma City, OK for over 10 years where he faithfully
teaches Bible study classes.
