SUMMARY:Ministry Matters w/ Coach Patty Gasso
DESCRIPTION:Patty Gasso is the head softball coach at the University of Oklahoma. Having recently completed her 25th season at the University of Oklahoma\, this NFCA Hall of Fame coach has molded the OU softball program into a national power and permanently placed herself among the elite college softball coaches in the country. Oklahoma has won four national championships\, one of just three programs in NCAA history to win more than two national titles. Gasso’s teams have reached the Women’s College World Series 13 times during her tenure\, and in the process\, advanced to the postseason in each one of her 25 seasons. The OU softball success under Gasso has also spilled over into the classroom where the Sooners have been honored with 141 academic all-conference honors. Nine of those have gone on to become Academic All-Americans. Coach Gasso and her staff have consistently been recognized for their efforts on and off the field. She has also been named the Big 12 Coach of the Year 12 times including last year\, and named national coach of the year multiple times. \nEven with all the “on the field” success\, Gasso has continued to stay focused first and foremost on honoring God personally and making disciples through the relationships she develops.  She sees her personal and spiritual impact on those she’s had the opportunity to influence as her greatest contribution—her purpose in life. You don’t want to miss this special\, up-close opportunity to connect with this spiritual hero who lives out her faith daily and gets it that “ministry matters”! \nMinistry Matters gatherings are open to all who are “ministry minded\,” not just those preparing for ministry as a full-time vocation. For students\, this means you do not have to be in the School of Christian Ministry to participate—all students are welcome. Faculty and staff are welcome to join in as well. We Start Churches (the OK State Free Will Baptist Mission Board) sponsors these events and provides a FREE lunch for all who attend. However\, you must register (https://www.westartchurches.com/pioneering-change-events) by Monday\, November 4\, at 1:00pm to get the free lunch. DESCRIPTION:See You at the Pole™\, the global day of student prayer\, began in 1990 as a grassroots movement with ten students praying at their school. Twenty years later\, millions pray on their campuses on the fourth Wednesday in September. See You at the Pole™ is a student-initiated\, student-organized\, and student-led event. \nThis year\, rather than meeting at the flagpole\, join us in the Cafe from 11:30am-1:00pm for  a time of prayer and giveaways. We will have tailgate/sports theme and students are encouraged to wear their favorite sports team shirt or jersey. Free snow cones will be provided for students as well!
